John Muir Botanicals

The John Muir Botanical project was created between 2003 and 2008. I worked with the author Dr. Bonnie J. Gisel, who conceived the idea, to study John Muir’s life as a botantist. Bonnie did the reseach and I photographed and restored the plants specimens that John Muir collected between 1864 and 1900. Heyday Books of Berkeley California is publishing the book “Nature’s Beloved Son, Rediscovering John Muir’s Botanical Legacy” due to be released in September 2008. The Oakland Museum will be organizing a show about John Muir which will include these images. Here is a selection of images that I created for the project.
