Stephen Joseph Photography
Information
I’ve been involved in Photography for 43 years. My father got me interested when I was 12 years old. I
have always been a photographer. I received a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland,
California in the 70’s and an MFA from CCAC in Photography and Printmaking in the 80’s. I am a fine art
landscape photographer specializing in panoramic images. I’ve spent the last 18 years working with land
trusts throughout the Bay Area helping to create open space. In 2003-04 I was the “Artist in Residence”
for the LeConte Memorial Lodge in Yosemite Valley. I am presently the “Centennial Photographer” for Muir
Woods National Monument in Marin County. My first book “Nature’s Beloved Son, Rediscovering John Muir’s
Botanical Legacy” with author Bonie J. Gisel, is being published by Heyday Books in Berkeley, California.
My second book will be published spring 2008 by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. It is a
selection of images from my “Centennial Collection” of Muir Woods National Monument. My third book,
which will be a selection of Mt. Diablo panoramic images, published by The Mt. Diablo Interprative
Association, will be released in early 2010.
